My name is Lisa Fleming, and I am about to embark on the biggest journey of my life, my life’s dream.  For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to write, travel, and be in love.  There were always reasons not to go, “fears” as I call them.  As most adults can say, I’ve been through a lot in my life, with Systemic Lupus as an 11 year old child, to divorce at age 30,  and all the residual effects of both in between.  In 2008 I moved out of my marriage and into my grandparents’ home to gather myself.  Since then I started practicing yoga, bought my first studio, OneTree Yoga in Euclid, Ohio, moved, opened a second yoga studio, Awaken Yoga in Mentor, Ohio with my friend, quit my full time job, and moved again.

I have much appreciation for every step of my journey, realizing that it has brought me here, however, with as much as I’ve grown, I am still missing a piece of me.  I need to write, I need to travel, and I absolutely need to love.

For the past year, I’ve been mourning the loss of my dream.  I tried making peace with letting it go, but that didn’t work.  The more I tried to make peace with realizing my dream wasn’t possible, the more depressed I became.  That’s when I realized that I couldn’t allow myself to be on my deathbed one day regretting the choice I made to live in fear.  So, I’ve  decided to dive in head first, and hit the road.  I am selling everything I own, including my beloved  yoga studios.  I also need to find a loving home for my sibling cats, Moksha and Mukti, whose Sanskrit names mean freedom and liberation.

This blog will document every step of the way, from the excitement and joy to the reality of change.  I know there will be a flood of emotions as I pack up and sell my things, find my cats a new loving home, and leave my family and friends.  I also know there will be so many interesting people to meet, and sites to see, and I am looking forward to every emotional experience I’m about to encounter.  My hope is that I will use my free time and travel experiences as inspiration for my writing.

It is because of the love and support I receive from friends and family that I have the courage and ability to go forward.  I am, and always will be, forever grateful to all of the people in my life. Thank you for following along with me, keeping me company and offering your support.

Now let’s stop wasting time, it’s time to LIVE.

Lisa ~

Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows.

Congratulations! I have done variations of what you are about to do. I even sold all of my belongings and moved to Europe. It is worth all of the risk! I will follow your blog and send strength and courage as I read. Best wishes!

Wow, Lisa! So many challenges that you have overcome and so many accomplishments in your short number of years on this earth! I’ll tell you this, the best decision I ever made was to just live my life for myself. Stop waiting for my partner in life to arrive. Travel alone if I had to, and be satisfied in the knowledge that I am still in great company even when alone (and I was never alone for long…strangers love to talk to me, and I’m sure they do to you as well!). Live your life for yourself, check things off of that list of things you want to do or see before it’s over, and love will come to you. That’s how it worked for me! Can’t wait to read about your adventures!

Dear sweet Lisa….I don’t even know where to start but I will try. First and foremost, I am absolutely thrilled for you!! You get it…you really get it! Most of us go through life just enduring day after uneventful day and at some point it all comes to an end— and most have never having truly lived. We are always waiting UNTIL…until what? Yes, exactly until what? Know that you are a shining light that I will never forget. When I think of all the things I love about yoga…the one recurring constant was your wonderful way of making everyone feel at peace. I will continue to follow your adventures as you embark on your new life. I hope you know how many people you have touched with your love & light. May God watch over you ever step of the way!!! Lauri, this message from you is so wonderfully written and meaningful to me. Thank you so much. I really miss having you in class, you were one of those students who brought the cheer with them every day. No matter what you were going through, and i know it was alot, you came in with a smile and you made me feel happy to be with you. I hope I do get to see you before I leave, even to just catch up. I’m sending you love through the keyboard!
